24. Unveiling the Saving Love
of the Triune God toward Sinners
a. By the Parable of a Shepherd Seeking a Sheep
1 Now all the atax collectors and sinners were drawing near to Him to hear Him.
2 And both the Pharisees and the ascribes bmurmured among themselves, saying, This man welcomes csinners and deats with them.
3 And He told them this 1parable, saying,
4 Which man of you, who has a ahundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the 1bwilderness and go after the one which is clost until he dfinds it?
5 And when he finds it, he 1lays it on his ashoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he comes into his house, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was alost.
7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one asinner repenting than over ninety-nine brighteous persons who have no need of repentance.
